Seeking to join the board

September 4, 2025

Andrew Rodriguez Calderón is the son of two Colombians who moved to New York City back in the 80s. Recently, he and a group of volunteers – including his husband Pierre – started collaborating on revitalizing the community garden, planting and tending to a variety of flowers (many of which you all donated!).

The experience inspired him to run for the board to contribute to our community more meaningfully. He is committed to community living, embracing the diversity that makes this neighborhood so unique, and creating opportunities for people to share their histories and heritages with each other. He has spent most of his life in Jackson Heights.

For work, Andrew teaches at the City University of New York, and also works at a non-profit lab in The New School.

To find out about becoming a Board Member, please contact Cecile Destil or Laura Bell.
